STEVE CAPELLI MEMORIAL GOLF FOUNDATION

Steve Capelli, late husband of local dance instructor Pam Cohen, was a popular and well known golf professional in the Ventura County area. After his abrupt death from cancer in November 2003 a yearly tournament was established with the proceeds going to many local deserving groups and families including The Cancer Center of Ventura County, Cancer Hope Foundation , Ventura County Junior Golf and several families whose lives have been affected by cancer.

In 2006 as part of the restructuring of Port Hueneme Harbor Days Inc., a non-profit group founded in 1954, the Steve Capelli Memorial Golf Foundation was formed. Port Hueneme Harbor Days was dedicated to giving back to the community through proceeds from it’s annual festival and SCMGF has pledged to do the same.

Pam, along with her son and daughter-in-law Cory and Cheryl Soper, with the assistance of Evergreen Alliance Golf, plan to continue giving to those in need of support due to the devastation of cancer. Proceeds from our annual golf tournament and concurrent silent auction will be given to deserving people and organizations in Ventura County. We look to our community for support in our efforts and the fruit of our own efforts will stay in Ventura County.
